Edward Briggs is a Family Nurse practitioner who practices a in the areas of Emergency Medicine, Nuclear Medicine and interventional radiology.  He is also Adjunct Faculty at Keiser University with focus on health policy and evidenced based practice.

He began his nursing career in emergency nursing and has since fulfilled many roles including home healthcare, high risk maternity, administrator and small business owner.  Ed has previously served on the American Nurses Association nominations and elections committee as chair, has been appointed to serve on the ANA political action committee as Treasurer and is past chair of the Florida Coalition of Advanced Practice nurses.  He also leads a medical mission to remote jungles of Belize annually for Nokumbaya, a non-profit mission group.  He is the past president of the Florida Nurses Association and is actively involved in health policy and health related legislation.

Ed received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of South Florida and his Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of Florida.

Ed has served on the board of the Florida Nurses Association for 8 years, has chaired several task forces including the safe staffing task force and the transition to practice task force.  He has also received the Barbara Lumpkin award for legislative advocacy from the Florida Nurses Association and the American Nurses Association Nurse Advocate of the year award in 2013 and the Gem Award from Nurses.com.
