If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit N-STAT!.Representatives Lois Capps, RN (D-CA) and Steven LaTourette (R-OH) have circulated a letter soliciting support for a $44 million increase in funding for nursing workforce development programs. This Dear Colleague solicitation asks other Members of the U.S. House of Representatives to sign onto a statement supporting $200 million in fiscal year (FY) 2009 funding for the Nursing Workforce Development programs administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). If nurses can urge a large number of Representatives to sign onto the Capps/LaTourette letter, we will be more likely to receive this funding increase. President Bush has proposed a 30% cut in funding for these programs! Do not delay! Here is what you can do:
1. Check to see if your member of Congress signed onto the Dear Colleague by clicking here.
2. If they have not signed on, contact them TODAY! The deadline for Representatives to sign onto the Capps/LaTourette letter is Wednesday, March 12!
